Untitled 2020 | Watercolor on paper | 5" x 7" | Collaboration with L. Renée Núñez

October 8, 2020

This past summer I participated in the USPS Art Project, a mail art and Instagram based project created by Brooklyn-based artist Christina Massey (you can read more about it here). Unlike other mail art initiatives, like the Quarantined Artist Postcard Exchange in which artists create an original art postcard and mail it to each other, or the Postcards for Democracy demonstration started by Mark Mothersbaugh and Beatie Wolfe created to show support for the USPS and that will present cards in both a physical and virtual space, the USPS Mail Art Project emphasizes collaboration between artists. Two artists pair up and each creates a base artwork and mails it to the other who then completes the piece. In the end two pieces of art are created for each pair. I did three of these with artists L. Renée Núñez, Kate Csillagi, and Bill Hamilton.

Each of the collaborations were great fun, and I hope this will become a gateway for more future collaborations. The image shown above is one of the final pieces created by Renée and me. She did the set-up for this one (see blow) and I finished it out. In the end, we traded these back to each other.

Support the Arts

Art patronage embraces the idea that creativity contributes to the world and to individual lives, and that there is a symbiotic relationship and an exchange that occurs between the artist and the audience of their work. And while purchasing art is a fantastic way to do this, it's not always possible for everyone. The potential to support the arts is much broader, and Patreon makes it incredibly easy.

Introducing 3 monthly tiers in a range of support levels from Supporter of the Arts to Art Enthusiast to Art Collector. Get access to behind-the-scenes videos with insights and peeks at whatever is cooking in the creative cauldron or opt to get your own hand-created original art postcard.

Special Launch Offer

The first 10 people to sign up for the Art Collector patronage tier will receive a Collector's Surprise Pack filled with goodies from the studio! Learn more and sign up today.
